#GRA15 Week 2- Optical Illusions

This week, we read Amy Krouse Rosenthal's story Duck! Rabbit! as part of our Global Read Aloud author study.

After reading the story, we took a poll to see how many people thought the animal was a duck and how many thought it was a rabbit. It was almost an even divide, but slightly more students saw the animal as a duck! Amy Krouse Rosenthal told us it was a "Drabbit" :)

Today, we talked about how the picture is an optical illusion because you can see it in more than one way. We checked out more examples of optical illusions on the National Institute of Environmental Health Science Kid's Pages. We were amazed by some of the pictures we saw!

Do you see the circles moving?

A rabbit, looking right? Or a duck, looking left?
Another Drabbit! Which animal do you see?

Illusion 10

Do you see two faces? Or just one?

Check out the site for more optical illusion fun!

We also did a little bit of opinion writing with this story, and we wrote about why we thought the animal was a duck or a rabbit. Both sides are very convincing!

Next week, we will continue the #GRA15 fun with Amy Krouse Rosenthal's book It's Not Fair!
