Johnny Appleseed Day is Coming!

Did you know that Johnny Appleseed was a New England native? He was born as John Chapman on September 26, 1774 in Leominster, MA! He became an American Legend because of his kind and generous ways and his efforts in conservation. Every year, areas all across the United States celebrate his birthday and we are going to do the same! On Friday, September 25th we will celebrate by studying apples and Johnny Appleseed in each of the second grade classrooms. We will experiment with apples, do some apple math, make some apple art, and learn about the man who planted them across the country.

In order to make sure we have enough apples for our various learning (and tasting!) opportunities, please bring in 1 apple by Friday morning. It can be any apple in any size, shape, or color! Ms. Riley just went apple picking this weekend, so she will bring in a few herself!
